Starting Your Project
Your first step to this technique is to clean your piece really well. Dixie Belle’s White Lightning cleaner is a great option to clean furniture. I also sanded a little because it was previously painted and I wanted it to be a smooth surface. I then took my Cotton and did two coats for my base coat. After letting that fully dry I used my ruler to make sure I had straight lines for my tape. You can draw lines or I have a pretty big square so I just laid the tape down according to that. Buffalo plaid is easy to do it just requires a few steps, but I promise the end result will be rockin!
Second step is to do the base coat, I did two of cotton.
Next take a ruler or square to measure the distance between, because my dresser drawer was a smaller size I decided to use a small size painters tape int he center of my two other pieces. After I put my tape down I painted over it with Dixie Belle Driftwood.
After the paint is dried you will remove the tape.
Now you will put down pieces of tape going in the opposite direction. I then painted the exposed areas with Dixie Belle Manatee Gray
Once that paint is dry you will KEEP the tape on but put tape going the opposite direction. You will then paint over the exposed area with Dixie Belle’s Midnight Sky.
After the paint dries, pull ALL the tape off, and VOILA! I distressed the drawer and then sealed with Dixie Belle’s Satin Top Coat.
You can do this Buffalo Plaid pattern in multiple colors. I added it to the final piece below and staged it for the holidays. This pattern is great for holidays, baby nurseries, woodland decor, a cabin or who am I really kidding EVERYWHERE!!
