My mom told me she loved working with transfers years and years ago. She said they didnt have all the cool ones they have now and she is right. Redesign with Prima Marketing has really pulled out all the stops to bring some of the most amazing designs! These decor transfers really are great for adding character to your furniture or home decor and they truly are simple to use once you get the hang of them.

Products used on this piece:

  1. Dixie Belle Paint in Pure Ocean

  2. Dixie Belle Paint in The Gulf

  3. Redesign with Prima Decor Transfer- Fuchsia Sunset

For this piece I did an ombre blend technique with the two different Dixie Belle Paint colors. Once the paint was dry I moved on to the transfer. When putting a transfer on a piece it is most ideal to do it right on the dry paint BEFORE wax or topcoats. This give it a better surface to grip and stick to. Adding The Decor Transfer

How To Use Decor Transfers For Beginners

For this project I used the Redesign with Prima Decor Transfer in Fuchsia Sunset. I wanted to use bits and pieces of this decor transfer so I first used my scissors to remove the tape on the roll. I unrolled the decor transfer and then I cut out the flowers I wanted to use on this piece. Make sure you keep the actual transfer on the white backer paper.

You want to do a “dry run” on your decor transfer. Once you are happy with where you will place the transfer, you can pull the transfer away from the backing paper. Place it where you want and rub across the area with your hand to make sure it adheres to that spot.

In the cardboard packaging there is a burnishing stick. You will use this stick to use moderate pressure to burnish your decor transfer. It is ideal when you get an air bubble in the transfer. it will help separate the transfer from the protective film easier.

After you have burnished your transfer you will want to peel up a corner of the protective film lightly and slowly, you will also want to pull the film off of the transfer slowly. If any piece of the decor transfer pulls off you can lay the film back down and burnish it, no problem it should stick right to the surface. Carefully pull the film off and in the end you will have a beautiful decor transfer on your piece of furniture or decor.
